Cream center

Let me do the review this way. Ill first list down what was good and then make a list of what wasn't.

Pros :

The ambiance is really good. If you are looking for a nice place to dine with family, this is where you should be
The service is prompt and fast. You place your order and before you know it it is there right in front of you
The puzzles on the table instead of the usual boring table mats
Their idea to give you a menu right in the beginning so that you can decide what you want when you wait.
The starters were really well made and quite tasty.

Cons :

The food is only ok. It is not as great as you might be led to believe by the ambience.
In reality, it is more of a sagar with a better ambience. However, you can put it down as one of the places to go to, if you want something different real fast.

I wonder

Why i am not updating this blog..
Why i wait for the weekend
Why i spend it running behind a to do list. :)

Calvin and Hobbes

For a long time, i thought i had read every strip there was about the lovable duo. Recently I understood i thought wrong. We got the complete collection as a wedding gift and volume three has such brilliant new strips i had not come across earlier. Needless to say, I am in Calvin Heaven now

The art of listening

Sometimes i think people are just not ready to listen to each other. I am no saint and I know for a fact that i have the same problem. I am hearing what people are telling me but more often than not, I fail to listen. The more I think of people being depressed and feeling lonely, the more i wonder if at least some portion of that can be resolved if we simply listened to each other. After reading Tuesdays with Morrie, I decided to be more aware of what people are trying to communicate. The more i think about it and actually do it, the happier it makes me when i realize that I am able to give something to those around me.

Until a few months ago, i was quite actively involved in CSR thanks to my earlier company. However in the recent past, that portion of my life is just a big blank. I am ashamed to admit that though i have the enthusiasm, I am not as focused and determined as i was before. This act of listening to people makes me feel slightly better as I hope that my time has been of some use to someone.

Five people you meet in heaven

I reread this book in accordance with my current motto of rereading some good old books. I was about to write a long review when i realised that i had written one already. I decided to simplify my job and repost it. All in all I still maintain it was a beautiful read.

Tuesdays with Morrie

I had read this book in 2007 and I liked it a lot. I decided to reread my copy this week and I realised that despite the years that have passed by, the effect of the well thought words are still as powerful as they were then. Also, what a college student in me liked, even the changed version did.

The lessons from the book are simple, poignant and of course very beautiful. Love each other or perish - this is the message that Morrie conveys throughout. His positive attitude and his outlook towards the world make me appreciate things all the more and also pause and ponder as to whether I am doing what I want to do and if I am at peace with myself and the world in general. I would recommend this book as a good read to everyone who has a reason to complain and pout hatred. The more you read it the more you realise how useless anger is and how beautiful and constructive acceptance and love can be.

Maruti has lost it

I have been watching a lot of maruti's advertisements in television and i just have one thing to say - Maruti has lost it. The A star ads are almost like the axe ones and the alto one is so lame! I really wonder whether Maruti is going through a rebranding exercise and are in the processing losing whatever "values" they might have stood for in the past.

I watch as the butterflies fly

I watch as the butterflies fly
and wonder what it is their deadlines are like
How many grams of honey do they collect per day?
How many flowers do they visit each day?
A scientist i want not to be
I realize how human i am
with this desire to quantify
even a thing of pure beauty

I know not if children really have
the fortune to be called the happiest
Isn't it their misunderstood innocence
that helps them see the world through
tinted glasses?
Often I wonder about the burden they carry
of unfinished commitments
for doesn't it start once you are aware
of the expectations in those around you?

Maybe i complicate things a lot
Maybe things are deceptively simple
I can only wonder and comment
for I am a mortal as human as they can get
not completely hopeless... yet

When all else fails

When all else fails,
atleast remember- you aint going to be the first
or the last for that matter
to face what you face

The form might differ
the name might differ
but at the end of a long day,
we are all but travelers
seeking significance, love, wealth
and of course power.
We fight our battles
with resources we have
We face the day
for otherwise,
there will not be another dawn

Just trudge ahead
for the sun shines on
the earth would revolve
and there aint no reason why
you should lighten your resolve.

Transformers 3 : Dark of the moon

Let me be frank - I was never a huge fan of the transformer series. Then, i had two guys who wanted to watch a movie and well, to cut a long story short, we ended up in Transformers 3. First things first - avoid Shankarnag for 3D movies - though my earlier experience was not so bad, this time around, all 3 3-D glasses were damn crappy. All of us ended up with a headache after watching the movie. I really think that the theatre has to improve the quality of the 3-D glasses else they are going to lose quite a lot of customers very soon.

Anyway, let me talk about the movie - it was a good watch - surprisingly so. The autobots had well etched characters and the movie was quite racy. As usual, the heroine was mainly meant as eye candy and she succeeded in being one. There is a new villain this time around and the autobots struggle to win a war they almost lose. This movie is worth the 2.5 hours and I would recommend it for a lazy weekend afternoon.

Pigs have wings

So says Wodehouse and he does say it with style. It was one of the funniest books of his that i have read and i thoroughly enjoyed the experience. TO a large extent, his plots are predictable. If you are a loyal reader, though you know what is going to happen and sometimes even how it is going to happen, the sheer pleasure in sinking into his words and thoughts somehow make up for it. Gally has over time become a favorite character of mine - You either have a taste for wodehouse or you cant stand him. If you are ready to risk it and give him a try, do read this book.

Of incomplete wishlists

I always have a wishlist - be it for books i want to read or movies I want to watch or places i want to see. Being the crazy person that i am, I even have wishlists for projects I want to do in office or things i want to learn to enhance my skill set. Anyway I recently realised that I am so busy going down the wish list that i have stopped adding on to the same. I have been so carried away with living life and conquering daily tasks that i have not been able to think of new things to do or even think for that matter. My personal blog has remained unupdated for most of this month and i think its high time i just stopped and started thinking and updating wishlists.
